The City of New Prague and the Minnesota Department of Transportation are cooperatively planning for the reconstruction of Main Street through downtown during the 2020 construction season. The proposed extents of the project will be on Main Street (Highway 19), from Highway 21 on the west to 7th Avenue SE on the east.
Existing underground city utilities include 1921 clay sanitary sewer and pre-1920 cast iron water main.
Original 1931 concrete pavement still present throughout much of the project.
The 1990 overlay project created parking bumpouts, brick boulevards, decorative lighting.
This project will replace aging city utilities, reconstruct the roadway and include streetscaping amenities such as lighting and sidewalk improvements.
